Foaling

WHP 6 210px Foaling Stall.jpg

Our broodmares are assigned a stall upon arrival and kept in that stall every evening until foaling is imminent. Then, she is moved to a 12x24 foaling stall for delivery. 24 hour surveillance is accomplished by providing a professional night watch as well as having a surveillance camera, equipped with sound, that runs to all of the staff computers.

War Horse Place Group 3-78 210px Mare and foal.jpg Emphasis is given to the hands-on personal attention starting the day a foal is born. Mares and foals are turned out daily and brought in every night. When they come into the stalls in the afternoon, the procedure for the foals is to pick up their feet, rub each leg and rub their face and ears. Temperatures are also taken in the morning before turnout and in the evening when they return to their stalls. This is done daily until they are weaned.
