care facility that can meet all of your horses
needs for any layup or post surgical care. |
| Because of our location within
4 miles of both Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital
and Hagyard - Davidson - McGee Hospital, the
shipping time is a short 6 minute trip from
either of these facilities to War Horse Place.
This provides minimum stress and risk for
your horse traveling to and from either facility.

Our two main barns containing 38 stalls all
have their own window to help ease the stress
that can often occur from long periods of
stall rest following a surgery. For increased
safety, the stalls are designed with anti-cast
construction. For horses that may need additional
room, a 12 X 24 stall is also available for
more comfort.

Impeccable
post surgical care and observation are imperative for even the smallest
surgical procedures. Our staff is trained and dedicated to following
all post operative care and instructions that the surgeon requests for
each individual case. This includes the administration of all
medications exactly as directed, ensuring that the proper bandage
techniques are used and that the bandages are changed as required by
the surgeon. Throughout the entire recovery period, the horses
temperatures are checked several times each day and careful management
of feed, hay and water intake is assured. Managing all aspects of the
post surgical care with great detail and care is paramount here at War
Horse Place. |

Part
of each recovery, is the incorporation of a post surgical exercise
plan. Our facility provides a round pen and several sizes of small
paddock turnout appropriate for each stage of recovery. In most cases,
and as directed by the surgeon, hand walking is also used as an
integral step of the rehabilitation process.
Our
round pen, exercise track and Kraft Brother's racetrack shaped walker
are all available and can be incorporated to aid in rehabilitation or
maintenance of your horses physical condition.
